SUITABLE FOR EYFS, PRIMARY AND SECONDARY I have provided this resource for free. There are more children than ever in our classrooms with unmet sensory needs. When unmet, these needs lead to disregulation and a lack of focus, which ultimately compromises the well-being and learning of the child and their classmates. Sensory diets are efficient and effective in ensuring the sensory needs of hyposensitive children are met so that they are ready to learn and feel regulated in the classroom. This pack contains a sensory diet template with key terms, and some suggested activities for sensory seekers and avoiders.

FREE Sensory avoiding strategies and information

This is a free poster package of two posters with information on supporting children who are sensory avoiders or become disregulated through experiencing different sensations. Both posters are part of a larger package which details different sensory needs, including how sensory diets can be built for sensory seekers with useful links to different support networks. I am neurodivergent myself and have based these resources off of research, teaching experiences and personal experiences as a sensory avoider. Any feedback is well and truly welcome as I am new to creating resources and want children with SEND to get the best support they can. This will be achieved by obtaining feedback by professionals from a variety of SEND backgrounds!

SEN Home and School Communication Diary (Weekly)

This communication book is designed to be easily maintained with minimal teacher input, cutting down on daily workload while still delivering essential insights to parents. It’s a fantastic resource for schools, parents, and therapy teams, supporting children’s unique learning journeys in a collaborative way. In this book, you will find: Weekly Activity and Regulation Tracking: Each week includes a visual overview where teachers can quickly mark mood and engagement levels, as well as note any focus areas or achievements, making it easy to stay updated on your child’s week at school. Food Diary: The book includes a weekly food diary to track meals and snacks with simple visuals, making it easy to indicate the amount eaten, whether all, most, or a little. This helps parents and caregivers monitor dietary habits and any new foods tried. Gestalt Language Diary: Capture and share your child’s progress in language development! This section allows teachers and parents to document specific words or phrases used, along with the context, which helps in understanding your child’s unique communication style. It’s particularly helpful for children who communicate using gestalt language patterns, and encourages shared insights between school and home. Wow Moments: Special achievements or joyful experiences are celebrated in a dedicated section, fostering positivity and providing parents with delightful updates on their child’s development. Collaborative Notes Section: Parents are encouraged to share notes about weekends or add personal insights, and the book can also be used as an evidence tool for appointments with occupational therapists, dieticians, and speech and language therapists. Symbols are from Tobii Dynavox.

Sensory Poster Package

(0)
This is a poster package that I have created as a neurodiverse SEN teacher in an ERP base covering the behaviours associated with sensory seeking and avoiding. Each poster contains information on a variety of different sensory needs, signs to look out for, strategies that can easily be included in the school day and your child’s routine, and some useful links! I have taken my time to ensure all information detailed on these posters is informed by research and experience. I am grateful for any feedback received as I truly believe that sharing experience and knowledge improves practice and understanding. Information sharing is crucial at this time when we are welcoming many more children with SEN needs who deserve every chance to flourish and succeed in school.
